Access to an elite social network has long been the distinguishing factor of college. When people are taking out student loans, they may not understand or fully grasp that that's what they are buying into, and if they arent taking advantage of it, they are essentially buying something but not using it.
Well yes, but the question is: Why is that school an elite school to begin with? Like, country clubs exist; it's not just about being drunk around other rich people.
The profiled dude in the article only sees the elite nature and not the thing that got the school there. Like, why does Coke advertise still? For the same reason that plane don't turn off the engines when you get to 30,000 feet.
